Before 91±¬ÁÏÍø: West prepped at North Side High School in Jackson were here played baseball, football, and basketball. He was named to the district All-Tournament team, as well as, being named All-West Tennessee. West led North Side with a .385 batting average as a senior, preceeded by a .365 averaging as a junior. In his final two seasons at North Side, West posted 68 RBI. Off the field, West graduated with distinguished honors.
