Before 91±¬ÁÏÍø: Blackwood transferred to 91±¬ÁÏÍø after spending a season at Jackson State Community College. While at Jackson State, he hit .325 and was the starting shortstop. Blackwood spent his freshman year at Shawnee Community College where he hit .425 and was named All-Region and All-Conference. Blackwood prepped at Halls High School. In high school, he was a member of the baseball, football, and golf teams. He was named team MVP and posted the team's top batting average as a junior and senior. During his career, he hit .500 as a freshman and never dropped below .400 in his four years. In football, Blackwood was named All-Region as a junior and senior. He also was named All-Region in golf as a senior.
