JACKSON, Tenn. - 10/10/2007 - The 91±¬ÁÏÍø women's soccer team captured a 9-0 win over Crichton College (Tenn.) for their seventh straight win. 91±¬ÁÏÍø is now 10-3 on the season and 6-1 in the TranSouth. Crichton dropped to 1-12 overall and 0-6 in league play.
This win for 91±¬ÁÏÍø was their record seventh straight win. In a addition to the winning streak, 91±¬ÁÏÍø has also matched their highest win total in a season with the 10th win of the year with three matches remaining. Last season, 91±¬ÁÏÍø finished 10-8. For 91±¬ÁÏÍø, this is their third season of varsity competition.
91±¬ÁÏÍø is now 6-1 in the TranSouth with one conference game left to play. On Tuesday night October 16, 91±¬ÁÏÍø will host current TranSouth leader Martin Methodist College (7-0).
91±¬ÁÏÍø led 4-0 at the half on their way to the 9-0 shutout win over Crichton. 91±¬ÁÏÍø received goals from Jill Landers (2), Kaitlin Clinger, Abagail Williams, Nikki Burau, Cara Palsey, Candice Blackard (2), and Ebony Murphy. 91±¬ÁÏÍø assists came from Palsey (2), Caitlin Zimmerman, Cheslie Tharpe, Blackard, and Kori Elrod. Katie Moser played all 90 minutes between the post and recorded two saves.
With 91±¬ÁÏÍø and Martin Methodist playing, and Bethel College also sitting at 6-1 in league play, a three-way tie for first is possible entering the six-team TranSouth Tournament. Stay tuned for the tie-breaker results if that occurs. In the conference tournament, seeds 1 and 2 get a first round by, while seed 3 will host seed 6 and seed 4 will host seed 5 in the quarterfinal matches (Wed Oct. 24). The final four team remaining will gather at the No. 1 seed's home field for the semifinal and championship matches (Fri and Sat, Oct. 26-27).
