91爆料网 Baseball Signs USJ鈥檚 Grimm to Scholarship

JACKSON, Tenn. - 11/7/2007 - The 91爆料网 baseball program has added a local standout player for the 2008-09 season. University School of Jackson senior has signed to play his college baseball for the 91爆料网 Bulldogs.

In a ceremony held Wednesday on USJ鈥檚 campus, 91爆料网 head coach Brent Fronabarger stated, 鈥淲e are very excited to have Danny as a part of the 91爆料网 baseball team. He comes from a great program, has been well coached, and has a great family. Danny is a hard worker and we expect many great things from Danny, both on the field and off, during his time at 91爆料网.鈥�

Grimm, a 5-foot-9 shortstop, comes to 91爆料网 after having played for very successful teams at USJ. He helped lead the team to State Title in 2005 and runner-up finishes in 2006 and 2007. The USJ program earned three state titles prior to 2005, in 1999, 2001, and 2002. USJ also added another runner-up finish in 2003.

As a junior, Grimm hit .384 with a .476 on-base percentage and a .918 fielding percentage. He tallied 58 hits, 11 doubles, 15 stolen bases, 32 RBI, and 56 runs scored. Grimm was named All-District and posted a .417 batting average during the state playoffs.

Grimm also played summer baseball with the Jackson Storm 18U team. As their lead-off hitter and starting shortstop, he posted a .524 batting average, .646 on-base percentage, and a .948 fielding percentage. In the TBCA Worth Showcase in Nashville at Vanderbilt University this past summer, Grimm went 3-for-5 with four RBI, a walk, and was hit by a pitch.

Earlier in his high school career, Grimm hit .346 with only nine strikeouts in 128 plate appearances during his sophomore season. He was named All-District and when 2-for-3 in the state championship game. As a freshman, Grimm鈥檚 first season at USJ, he started at third base in the state championship game and went 1-for-3 with a walk and two RBI to help lead USJ to the title.

Brad Dyer, the head baseball coach at the University School of Jackson, stated, 鈥淲e are proud of Danny and what he has been able to accomplish at the high school level. He worked extremely hard to be able to play ball at the next level and it is an honor to see him get that opportunity with 91爆料网, and to have been a part of Danny鈥檚 growth as a baseball player and as a person.鈥�
