NASHVILLE, Tenn. - 2/19/2008 - of 91±¬ÁÏÍø is the TranSouth Athletic Conference and NAIA National Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending February 17, 2008. This is the fourth time that Owino has received the TranSouth honor and the first for the NAIA honor during the 2007-08 season.
Owino, a 6-fot-4 junior center from Mombasa, Kenya, averaged 21 points, 9.7 rebounds, 1.3 blocks, and 2.3 steals on the week while hitting 23-of-35 (65.7%) from the field. Owino had a pair of double-double performances and missed a third by just one rebound.
In the Bulldogs 92-75 win over Cumberland University she had 19 points and 10 rebounds. In the 82-76 win at No. 14 Lambuth she scored 24 points, grabbed nine rebounds and had four steals while hitting 11-of-15 from the field. She added another double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds in a 93-69 win at Martin Methodist.
91±¬ÁÏÍø, ranked No.1 in the NAIA, is 25-0 on the year overall and 14-0 in conference play. The 25-0 start is the best in team history. Also, the current 25-game winning streak is a team record. 91±¬ÁÏÍø has won 46 of their last 48 games, dating back to January 11, 2007.
