JACKSON, Tenn. - 2/27/2008 - Matt Neaville of 91±¬ÁÏÍø was named the NAIA National Player of the Week. He was also named the Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the TranSouth Conference for the week ending February 24, 2008. This is Neaville's fifth time to receive the TranSouth honor this season.
Neaville, a 6-foot junior guard from Urbana, Ill., helped the Bulldogs to a 2-0 week with back-to-back career high performances. He scored his 91±¬ÁÏÍø career high 37 points in a 92-82 win over #RV Freed-Hardeman. He followed that up with a new career high with 38 points in a 106-105 double overtime win at #RV Crichton College. Neaville tied a 91±¬ÁÏÍø record with 10 made three point baskets against Crichton. He is just two three pointers shy of tying the 91±¬ÁÏÍø record for made three pointers in a season.
Against Freed he had 37 points, four rebounds, three assists, while hitting 9-of-21 from behind the arc. Against Crichton he had 38 points, three rebounds, three assists and was 10-of-22 from behind the arc.
For the week he averaged 37.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and three assists while hitting 25-of-56 (45%) from the field, 19-of-43 (44%) from behind the arc, and 6-of-8 from the foul line.
91±¬ÁÏÍø is now 15-12 overall and 9-8 in conference play.
