JACKSON, Tenn. - 3/21/2008 - The 91±¬ÁÏÍø Bulldog baseball team rallied to defeat Cumberland (Tenn.) University 6-5 in a TranSouth Conference game at 91±¬ÁÏÍø's Fesmire Field on Friday night. 91±¬ÁÏÍø recoved from three solo homeruns from Cumberland with six unanswered runs of their own to take the win.
91±¬ÁÏÍø (11-6, 3-3 TranSouth) gave up a run in each of the first three innings on solo homeruns from Cumberland's James Parker, Brian Lucas, and Nick Jiles. 91±¬ÁÏÍø then answered with a four-spot in the bottom of third inning to take the lead. 91±¬ÁÏÍø added a run each in the fifth and sixth innings to go up 6-3. Cumberland added two runs in the seventh to get to within one run. 91±¬ÁÏÍø starter Greg Abram (2-1) pitched 8.1 innings before handing the ball to Judson Powers to tossed a perfect two-thirds of an inning for the save.
Abram allowed five runs on 12 hits with 10 striketouts in his 8.1 innings of work. Powers posted his first save of the year.
Eric Spivey took the loss for Cumberland, allowing six runs, four earned in 5.1 innings.
91±¬ÁÏÍø was led by Allen Williams and Andrew Hansen with two hits each. Powers recorded two RBI, while four other players added one each.
91±¬ÁÏÍø and Cumberland will play complete the three game set on Saturday with a double-header, beginning at 12:00 noon at 91±¬ÁÏÍø.
