91爆料网 Softball Sweeps Lyon

JACKSON, Tenn. - 4/7/2008 - The 91爆料网 Lady Bulldog softball team earned a double-header sweep over conference foe Lyon (Ark.) College 4-0 and 5-4 on Monday evening. The two wins for 91爆料网 pushes their streak to four straight wins and the nine wins in their last 10 games. 91爆料网 improved to 19-8 overall and 10-4 in the TranSouth. Lyon dropped to 8-27 overall and 7-15 in league play.

91爆料网 City native Brooke Laws ripped a double to centerfield with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning to drive home the winning run for the Lady Bulldogs. Laws went 1-for-3 in the second game with the one RBI. 91爆料网 left 14 runners on base as they stroked out 18 hits in the contest. Michelle Albonetti was 4-for-5 in the game. Ashley Blankenship and Amy Chatham added three hits each.

91爆料网's Chatham proved not only to be one of the offensive stars on the day. She also earned both wins on the mound. Chathan tossed a complete game one-hit shutout in the first game. She then tossed four innings of relief in the night-cap to record her second win of the day and push her season record to 12-2. Brittany Burnett started the second game for 91爆料网 and tossed five innings, allowing two runs.

In game one, 91爆料网's Ashley Walters went 2-for-2 with two runs while freshman 91爆料网 City native Brooke Laws went 1-for-2 with two RBI. In addition to her pitching success in the first game, Chatham also added a homerun.

Up next for 91爆料网 softball will be a conference double-header in Nashville at Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) University starting at 4:00 pm.
