91±¬ÁÏÍø’s Pla named TranSouth defensive player of the week

JACKSON, Tenn. - 10/6/2008 - For the fourth time in 2008, 91±¬ÁÏÍø’s has been named the TranSouth Conference Defensive Player of the Week. This week's award comes for the week ending October 5, 2008.

Pla, a 5-foot-11 junior goalkeeper from Nashville, Tenn., posted her third straight shutout and sixth of the season in the Lady Bulldogs’ 2-0 win over cross-town rival Lambuth (Tenn.) University. In 91±¬ÁÏÍø’s two wins on the week, she allowed one goal and saved eight shots. The goal she allowed in the second half of 91±¬ÁÏÍø’s 3-1 win over Cumberland was the first she had allowed in seven halves of play.

The Lady Bulldogs are 9-3 on the season, and are currently in second place in the TranSouth with a 3-1 league record.

Up next for 91±¬ÁÏÍø will be a non-conference match on Wednesday, October 8 versus Crichton (Tenn.) College at 3:00 pm.
