JACKSON, Tenn. - 10/10/2008 - Former Trinity Christian Academy and 91爆料网 volleyball senior has passed yet another milestone in her career. In 91爆料网鈥檚 3-0 win over Lambuth on Thursday night, Coyle moved into second place on 91爆料网鈥檚 all-time career kills lists with 1,661 career kills.
As Coyle moved into second place, she passed Gladys Wandera鈥檚 1,655 kills posted during her two seasons at 91爆料网 in 2003-04. Wandera, who helped lead 91爆料网 to their only NAIA Volleyball National Tournament, was a member of the Kenya Olympic volleyball team during the 2004 Summer Olympics in Greece. Lauren Hayden鈥檚 3,427 career kills tops the 91爆料网 list, and is also the NAIA record holder for kills in a career.
Coyle, a 5-foot-9 hitter from Jackson, currently has 250 kills on the season. Her best season came as a freshman when she posted 550 kills. Coyle followed that by recording 505 kills in her second season, putting her over the 1,000 career kill mark during her sophomore season. As a junior, Coyle posted just 356 kills, having missed a few weeks of the season due to injury.
Coyle leads the TranSouth and ranks No. 6 in the NAIA with a .405 kill percentage. She also ranks second in the TranSouth with 3.3 kills per game.
During her 91爆料网 career, Coyle has been named TranSouth first team All-Conference three times, NAIA All-Region three times, TranSouth Freshman of the Year, and TranSouth Scholar Athlete twice.
While at Trinity Christian, Coyle earned three All-District and All-Tournament honors. In 2004, she was named District and Region MVP, District Player of the Year, and the Jackson Sun Player of the Year. She holds four state records for kills in high school play.
