Jacobs becomes top three-pointer shooter in 91爆料网 history

JACKSON, Tenn. - 12/8/2008 - 91爆料网 senior has sent a 91爆料网 record for three pointers made in a career. Jacobs currently has 323 made three pointers, which passes the old record of 309 held by Anna Richardson (1992-96).

Jacobs, a 5-foot-9 guard from Bradford, Tenn., has been a four-year starter for the 91爆料网 Lady Bulldogs. She was a member of the 2005 and 2006 NAIA National Championship teams. She missed the 2006-07 season with an injury, but came back last season to help 91爆料网 to a perfect 29-0 regular season, another TranSouth Conference Title, and a fourth straight trip to the national semifinals.

Her highest total in a season to this point was her freshman year when she made 117 three pointers. That number ranks second in 91爆料网 history behind Kelly Hayes鈥 122 in 1995-96. In addition to her 117 three pointers made as a freshman, she has posted seasons of 89 and 81 made three pointers, respectively. Through 13 games this season, Jacobs has made 36 three pointers.

鈥淢erideth exceeds all expectations in every area of her life,鈥 says Head Coach Mark Campbell. 鈥淪he has worked hard and has been a big part of our success over the last five years.鈥

As a freshman, Jacobs was just one three pointer shy of the NAIA national tournament records for three pointers in a game (10) and three pointers in a tournament (21). She posted nine made three pointers in a game versus Point Loma (Calif.) and totaled 20 made three pointers for the tournament in 2005.

During her first three years, Jacobs has been named an NAIA All-American (2005), TranSouth All-Conference (2005), TranSouth All-Freshman (2005), and NAIA All-National Tournament (2005, 2006).

Jacobs prepped at Bradford High School where she played both basketball and softball. She averaged 24 points and seven rebounds per game as a senior while shooting .510 from the field and .760 from the free throw line. She was named the Tennessee Class A Miss Basketball as a junior and senior in high school. She is the first person at Bradford to win back-to-back Tennessee Miss Basketball Awards.
