No. 3 91±¬ÁÏÍø knocks off Lambuth 88-67 on the road

JACKSON, Tenn. - 1/3/2009 - The No. 3 ranked 91±¬ÁÏÍø Bulldogs knocked off the Lambuth (Tenn.) University Eagles on the road 88-67. 91±¬ÁÏÍø is now 11-3 overall. Lambuth falls to 9-5 with the loss.

The contest began with tough defense being played by both teams. The scored was tied 4-4 just under five minutes into the half. The Bulldogs and the Eagles continued to swap baskets in a half that featured four ties. With strong defense by 91±¬ÁÏÍø and Lambuth, neither team was able to pull away early. However, with just under nine minutes left in the half, 91±¬ÁÏÍø began to take control and stretch their lead out to seven points on two occasions before taking a six-point advantage into the break, 34-28.

91±¬ÁÏÍø quickly took control of the second half, opening the period with a 7-0 run, taking their lead to 13 points, 41-28, just over a minute into the half. 91±¬ÁÏÍø continued to stretch their lead, going up by 19 points, 49-30, with just over 16 minutes left in the contest. The Eagles did not back down, but the Bulldogs proved to be too much, as 91±¬ÁÏÍø pulled away with an 88-67 win.

91±¬ÁÏÍø was led in the contest by Antoine Joseph's career-high 27 points. Brian Lake recorded a double-double with 21 points and 14 rebounds. Matt Neaville added 16 points in the win.

Lambuth was led Tom Hammonds with 12 points. Antawn Coby added 11 points for the Eagles.

Next up for the Bulldogs will be the first home match up of 2009 against TranSouth Conference opponent Cumberland (Tenn.) University on Thursday, Jan. 8. The game will tip off at 8 pm, with the women's game to precede it at 6 pm.
