91±¬ÁÏÍø falls at home to Freed-Hardeman, 69-66

JACKSON, Tenn. - 1/17/2009 - The No. 5 ranked 91±¬ÁÏÍø Bulldog had their six-game winning streak snapped with a loss to Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) University, 69-66. The win for Freed-Hardeman is their sixth-straight.

91±¬ÁÏÍø (14-4, 4-1) started the game with a 16-6 run to take their first of three 10-point leads in the first half. 91±¬ÁÏÍø maintained the lead for all but 54 seconds in the first half. The Lions of Freed-Hardeman (13-6, 5-1) used a three pointer from Logan Greer to take a 31-30 lead, their first of the game. After 91±¬ÁÏÍø made one of two free throws, Freed-Hardeman made a shot in the final seconds of the half to take a 33-31 halftime lead.

In the second half, Freed-Hardeman maintained momentum as they pushed their lead to as many as seven points, 57-50 with 6:49 left to play. 91±¬ÁÏÍø then stormed back with an 8-0 run to take a 58-57 lead with 4:24 left in the game. The Lions quickly regained the lead that they would not give up. 91±¬ÁÏÍø had a chance with 11 seconds left following a Zach Frey missed free throw. 91±¬ÁÏÍø had won two of their last three games on shots by Brian Lake in the final seconds. However, this time would not be the same as 91±¬ÁÏÍø's game-tying shot by Martez Hawkins was just off the mark.

Neither team posted impressive shooting numbers, but 91±¬ÁÏÍø struggled the most. The Bulldogs managed just 37-percent from the field, 23-percent (6-26) from behind the arc, and 64-percent (16-25) from the free throw line.

Freed-Hardeman shot just 39-percent from the field, 33-percent (8-24) from behind the arc, and 56-percent (9-16) from the free throw line.

91±¬ÁÏÍø was led by Matt Neaville with 19 points, including four three pointers. Martez Hawkins added 12 points and Brian Lake grabbed 17 rebounds.

Freed-Hardeman was led by Jess Moulton with 16 points including four three pointers. Shun Trevillian added 14 points and Zack Frey had 12 points.

Up next for 91±¬ÁÏÍø will be a home conference game on Monday, January 19 versus Blue Mountain (Miss.) College at 8:00 pm.
