JACKSON, Tenn. - 4/11/2009 - After 91±¬ÁÏÍø knocked off Lambuth (Tenn.) University on Friday night 7-6 to open the weekend series, the Bulldogs completed the sweep with 1-0 and 3-0 victories on Saturday. In the two Saturday wins, 91±¬ÁÏÍø's starting pitchers both tossed complete game, one-hitters.
All three starting pitchers for 91±¬ÁÏÍø posted complete games in the three-game series with Lambuth.
In the first game, Jackson native and former Madison Academic High School standout, Jeremy Stack (4-3) took a no-hitter into the top of the sixth inning. Lambuth's nine-hole hitter led off with a single to break up the no-hitter. Stack also struck out 13 Eagle hitters, while walking just two batters in his seven innings of work. Stack, a freshman for 91±¬ÁÏÍø, took care of the pitching duties, while fellow freshman, Cole McAdams of Huntingdon, provided the offense. His RBI hit in the bottom of the sixth inning scored Corey Rudolph. McAdams was 2-for-3 on the day.
Game two saw 91±¬ÁÏÍø score first with a tally in the first when an RBI single from Rudolph scored Danny Grimm. Davis (4-3) allowed his only hit to Chris Siljendahl who slapped a one-out single in the second inning. Davis posted two strikeouts while walking just one batter, facing just two hitters over the minimum in his seven innings of work. Offensively, 91±¬ÁÏÍø added single runs in the fourth and sixth innings to give Davis some unneeded insurance. Grimm, a freshman from the University School of Jackson, was 2-for-2 on the day to lead 91±¬ÁÏÍø. Rudolph and Allen Williams each recorded a RBI in the game.
91±¬ÁÏÍø is now 24-14 on the season, while Lambuth dropped to 28-13.
Up next for 91±¬ÁÏÍø will be a double-header at Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) College on Monday, April 13 starting at 3:00 p.m.
