Tobie Joy
JACKSON, Tenn. - 6/11/2009 - Tobie Joy will transfer to 91爆料网 from Middle Tennessee State University this fall to continue her softball career. The Covington, Tenn. native will enter 91爆料网 this fall as a sophomore and will be majoring in Nursing.
Joy, a 5-foot-1 pitcher, transfers to 91爆料网 from Middle Tennessee State where she played one season of softball. She started 56 games at second base and posted her career high of three RBI in a game versus the University of Tennessee. Joy prepped at Covington High School where she played softball and volleyball. In her four years of softball for Coach Martha Lawler, she helped lead her team to four district, region and sectional titles, as well as, a state runner up finish in 2006 and third place finish in 2007.
Joy accumulated numerous honors at Covington including being named a three-time all-state player, three-time All-West Tennessee and four-time Shelby County All-Metro team performer. She was named the Commercial Appeal and On the Ball Magazine Player of the Year, earned the coach鈥檚 award and was named team MVP as a senior. In her high school career, Joy was 97-21-3 with 979 strikeouts and a 1.78 ERA. She had 59 shutouts and tossed 21 career no-hitters.
Off the field, Joy was a member of the High School Honor Society and Who鈥檚 Who, while graduating eighth in her senior class. At MTSU, she earned a spot on the Dean鈥檚 List for the fall and spring semesters.
Joy is the daughter of Buckie and Elaine Joy and is a member of the First Baptist Church in Covington.
