91±¬ÁÏÍø men’s basketball signs Davis for 2009-10

JACKSON, Tenn. - 8/7/2009 - CJ Davis of Nashville has signed to continue his college career with the 91±¬ÁÏÍø men’s basketball program. Davis will enter 91±¬ÁÏÍø this fall as a sophomore.

91±¬ÁÏÍø head coach David Niven says, “"I am very excited that CJ chose to be a part of the Bulldog basketball family. He is an extremely talented player that has proven he can play at a very high level. CJ is a terrific scorer and very good passer. His ability to play both guard positions make him quite valuable to our backcourt. As both his parents grew up in Jackson, we are thrilled he has chosen to come back home."

Davis, a 6-foot-1, 180 lb. guard, transferred to 91±¬ÁÏÍø from Los Angeles City College where he played one season of basketball. His high school career started at Goodpasture (Tenn.) High School where he spent three seasons, before playing his senior year at Southside High School in Atlanta. He helped lead his AAU Nashville Stallions team to the 2007 national title.

During high school, Davis was named district MVP three times, region MVP twice, twice named first team all-state, and finished runner-up in the player of the year voting as a senior. He was named AAU National Tournament MVP as a senior and was named AAU Kentucky Hoopfest MVP as a junior. His senior year at Southside, Davis averaged 28.6 points, 8.5 assists and 6.4 rebounds per game. In the AAU National Tournament, he posted 36.8 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. Davis' career high was 56 points in a game and is a member of the 1,000-point Club.

Davis is the son of Clarence and Martha Davis.
