HENDERSON, Tenn. - 9/24/2009 - After setting a program record with 15 straight wins to start the season, the 91±¬ÁÏÍø volleyball team dropped their first match of the season at Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) University 3-2 (14-25, 26-24, 26-24, 14-25, 15-8). 91±¬ÁÏÍø fell to 15-1 overall and 4-1 in the TranSouth, while Freed-Hardeman improved to 7-6 on the season and 3-1 in league play.
91±¬ÁÏÍø stormed out of the gates with a quick 25-14 win in the first set. The momentum seemed to remain with 91±¬ÁÏÍø as the Lady Bulldogs led 20-11 in the second set. However, the home Lady Lions of FHU rallied back to even the match with the 26-24 win. Freed-Hardeman led for most of the third set, before taking a 2-1 match lead with the another 26-24 set victory.
Now with the momentum on the side of FHU, 91±¬ÁÏÍø was the team to rally. With another quick and convincing set, 91±¬ÁÏÍø tied the match at 2-2 with a 25-14 win. But in the end, it was FHU pulling away in the fifth set to seal with win 15-8 and take the match.
Up next for 91±¬ÁÏÍø will be a non-conference road match on Monday, September 28 at Williams Baptist (Ark.) College.
