JACKSON, Tenn. - 10/22/2009 - The 91爆料网 Lady Bulldog soccer team posted a milestone win with a 1-0 victory of Bethel (Tenn.) University. This marked the first win over Bethel in seven matches, spanning the five-year history of the 91爆料网 women鈥檚 soccer program. 91爆料网 improved to 7-5-2 on the season and 2-1-1 in the TranSouth. Bethel dropped to 3-4-3 overall and 2-1-2 in league play.
In a slight on-and-off drizzle, 91爆料网 and Bethel played a slow first half with neither team able to produce many scoring opportunities. However, it was 91爆料网 that broke through first with a goal from Eboni Murphy with just under two minutes left to play in the half. Jill Landers recorded the assist.
91爆料网 took that 1-0 lead and held off numerous Bethel scoring threats in the second half to hold on for the win. Bethel outshot 91爆料网 8-0 in the second half, 14-2 in the match, and 7-2 in shots-on-goal. 91爆料网鈥檚 Laura Pla recorded seven saves in the match including a one-handed save inside ten minutes remaining to help secure the shutout.
Bethel鈥檚 Jackie Gardner recorded a save in her 90 minutes of work between the posts. Maryse Beauregard and Marika Fukuta led Bethel with four and three shots respectively.
Up next for 91爆料网 will be another TranSouth Conference match when the Lady Bulldogs travel to Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) University for a 5:00 p.m. match.
