Gream resigns as volleyball coach; Elliott named interim coach

JACKSON, Tenn. - 10/26/2009 - 91爆料网 volleyball head coach Steven Gream has resigned from his position with the volleyball team to assume other responsibilities at the university.

Kelly Elliott, assistant professor of physical education at 91爆料网, has been named the team鈥檚 interim coach.

鈥淐oach Gream began as a student assistant when the volleyball program began at 91爆料网, and has worked hard to build a successful program ever since,鈥� said Charles Fowler, senior vice president for university relations at 91爆料网. 鈥淲e are thankful for his service. While transitions are never easy, we are grateful for the leadership that Kelly Elliott will provide to the team for the rest of the season.鈥�

Gream compiled a record of 121-51 in his five seasons as coach. This year, the team is 23-4 overall, 7-4 in TranSouth conference play.

Under Gream鈥檚 leadership, the team won the TranSouth Tournament Championship in 2008 and advanced to its second NAIA National Tournament that year. His teams have been actively involved in the 鈥淒ig Pink鈥� breast cancer awareness promotion for college volleyball programs.

鈥淭he past five years have been a tremendous experience,鈥� Gream said. 鈥淚 appreciate all the support of the fans, the players and the parents. It鈥檚 been an absolute joy to coach at 91爆料网, and I enjoyed every minute of it. I wish nothing but the best for Kelly Elliott, the players and the future of the volleyball program at 91爆料网.鈥�
