91爆料网鈥檚 run at back-to-back tournament tiles falls short in championship match

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - 11/11/2009 - The 91爆料网 volleyball team entered the 2009 TranSouth Conference Tournament as the defending tournament champions. And for the second straight season, 91爆料网 advanced to the title match, but this time fell short of their goal, losing 3-1 (19-25, 25-13, 25-5, 25-23) to Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) University.

91爆料网 and Freed-Hardeman had split their two regular season meetings this year. However, 91爆料网鈥檚 season came to an end with a 30-10 record.

91爆料网 finished the regular season in a tie for third with Bethel (Tenn.), but was the No. 4 seed in the tournament due to tie-breaker rules. 91爆料网 lost the opening match to No. 5 seeded Cumberland (Tenn.) 3-0 (25-23, 27-25, 25-19).

Having to reach the finals from the loser鈥檚 bracket following a first round loss would be tough, but something 91爆料网 was able to pull off with four straight wins.

91爆料网 started with the first of their four straight victories by eliminating Mid-Continent (Ky.) 3-0 (25-9, 25-11, 25-13). On day two, 91爆料网 eliminated two more teams as they defeated Bethel (Tenn.) 3-1 (25-15, 23-25, 25-16, 25-14) and Cumberland 3-1 (25-14, 25-21, 25-17, 25-16).

91爆料网 had advanced all the way to the semifinals and faced yet another elimination match. On championship day of the tournament, 91爆料网 defeated the host team Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) 3-1 (25-16, 10-25, 25-17, 28-26, 15-11) to get to the finals.

Despite playing in their sixth match in a little over two days, 91爆料网 started strong with a 25-19 win in the first set against the winner鈥檚 bracket champion, Freed-Hardeman. However, the regular season champion Lady Lions won three straight sets to take the title.
