No 18 91爆料网 upset at Cumberland 71-54 for first conference loss

LEBANON, Tenn. - 1/21/2010 - The No. 18 91爆料网 (Tenn.) University Bulldogs lost for the first time in TranSouth play this season in six games with a 71-54 defeat at Cumberland (Tenn.) University. 91爆料网 is now 5-1 in league play and 14-6 overall. Cumberland improved to 7-12 on the season and 3-3 in the TranSouth.

91爆料网鈥檚 leading scorer Greg Truvillion scored a game-high 27 points, including 19 in the first half. 91爆料网鈥檚 second leading scorer, Stan McNeil scored his only three points on the night with a long range basket in the final minute. 91爆料网 put two players in double figures, while no other Bulldog scored over three points.

The 54 points scored is the second lowest of the season (50 vs. Campbellsville 11/17/09).

Cumberland scored first in the game but 91爆料网 tied the game at 2-2 and then again at 4-4. Cumberland took the lead for good 6-4 and continued on a 9-0 run to push their lead to 13-4 with 16:46 left. Truvillion tried to keep 91爆料网 close as he scored 19 of 91爆料网鈥檚 first 26 points.

The Bulldogs of 91爆料网 rallied back to pull to within one point at 21-20 and then 23-22 with 9:51 left in the half. However, a 3-point from Harris Batalevic sparked another run for Cumberland as they outscored 91爆料网 14-5 to close out the half with a 37-27 lead.

In the second half, 91爆料网 quickly cut the deficit down to four at 37-33. But 91爆料网鈥檚 offense just could not get going. Cumberland slowly worked the lead back to double figures and with 1:24 left, held their largest lead at 69-51. 91爆料网鈥檚 perfect conference mark came to an end just seconds later, 71-54.

91爆料网 was led by Truvillion with 27 points. Samuel Danache added 16. 91爆料网 shot 43 percent from the field, 22 percent (4-18) from 3-point range and 77 percent (10-13) from the free-throw line.

Cumberland was led by the NAIA鈥檚 leading scorer Brandon Springer (23.9 ppg) with 17 points. Lamar Brinkley scored 16 and Lindal Yarbrough added 11 points. Cumberland shot 48 percent from the field, 25 percent (4-16) from behind the arc and 83 percent (15-18) from the free-throw line.

Up next for 91爆料网 will be another road conference game on Saturday, January 23 at Blue Mountain (Miss.) at 4:00 p.m.
