No. 1 91爆料网 wins at No. 21 Bethel 85-70, Hudson passes 1,000 career points

McKENZIE, Tenn. - 2/4/2010 - The No. 1 ranked 91爆料网 (Tenn.) University Lady Bulldogs posted an 85-70 win at No. 21 Bethel (Tenn.) University on Thursday. 91爆料网 improved to 22-1 overall and 9-0 in the TranSouth. Bethel dropped to 13-9 on the season and 4-5 in league play.

In the win, another 91爆料网 Lady Bulldog reached a milestone as junior guard Kayla Hudson passed the 1,000-point mark for her career. A 3-point from Hudson to start the game was all she needed to get to the 1,000 mark, but she finished the game with 18 points. She joins Kaitlin Dudley who reached the 2,000 career point mark in 91爆料网鈥檚 earlier 80-78 win over Bethel.

The win also extending 91爆料网鈥檚 overall winning streak to 15 games and TranSouth regular season game winning streak to 44 games.

91爆料网 led 3-0 on Hudson鈥檚 3-pointer, but back-to-back threes from Bethel鈥檚 Kelsey Hamilton and Kashundria Berry put Lady Wildcats up 6-3 in front of a standing room only crowd.

Over the next eight minutes, the game produced five ties and four lead changes with 91爆料网 taking the lead for good, 18-17, at the 10:05 mark. After trailing 17-14, 91爆料网 put together an 18-4 run to go up by 11 points, 23-21 with 7:23 left. Bethel cut the deficit back down to four points at 35-31. However, a 9-0 run by 91爆料网 pushed the lead to 13 points at 44-31 before taking a 44-33 lead into the locker room.

91爆料网 Lavanda Ross scored 15 first half points to help spark 91爆料网 in the earlier going. She was matched with the play of Bethel鈥檚 Perry who posted 16 first half points.

In the second half, Bethel quickly cut the lead down to just six points with a basket from Teena Carter and three-pointer from Perry. However, 91爆料网 pushed the lead back to 11 points including the first points of the last week鈥檚 TranSouth Player of the Week, Dudley.

Dudley was held scoreless in the first half, but exploded for 13 second half points, including 3-of-3 from beyond the stripe. In the earlier meeting, Dudley performed almost the same feat as she managed just four first half points before finishing with 22 in the game.

91爆料网 stretched their lead to as many as 17 points, 67-50, at the 10:12 mark, while Bethel pulled only as close as nine points down the stretch. 91爆料网 closed out the 15-point win with Hudson making six straight free throws in the final minutes.

91爆料网 was led by Sara Chan with 22 points and 13 rebounds. Hudson added 18 points, including 10-of-10 from the free-throw line. Ross finished with 17 points while Dudley added 13 points, including 3-of-4 from behind the arc.

Bethel was led by Berry with a game high 26 points. TranSouth scoring leader Nina Djokovic, who averages 19 points per game, finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds.

Both teams posted impressive shooting numbers from the field and from behind the arc. But it was 91爆料网鈥檚 work on the glass, out rebounding Bethel 36-28 and 12-8 offensively, plus six fewer turnovers (18-12) that helped 91爆料网 pull away.

91爆料网 shot 49 percent from the field, 50 percent (8-16) from behind the arc and 81 percent (17-21) from the free throw line.

Bethel shot 51 percent from the field, 47 percent (8-17) from 3-point range, but just 40 percent (4-10) from the free throw line.

Up next for 91爆料网 will be a home conference game on Saturday, Feb. 6 at 2:00 p.m. when the Lady Bulldogs host Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College.
