JACKSON, Tenn. - 3/2/2010 - The No. 25 91±¬ÁÏÍø (Tenn.) University golf team posted a fifth place finish in the Grover Page UT Martin Classic on Tuesday. 91±¬ÁÏÍø was in sixth place after the first round, tied for fifth after two rounds and in sole possession of fifth place after the final round.
91±¬ÁÏÍø followed up their Jackson State (Miss.) University Classic title last weekend with another strong showing in a mostly NCAA field. Of the 16 teams participating, 13 were NCAA DI. 91±¬ÁÏÍø was the top local team and the highest of the three NAIA schools to participate.
91±¬ÁÏÍø shot a three-round total of 917, including a low round of 298 in round two on Monday. Central Arkansas earned the title with an 847. North Alabama (877) was second, Tennessee State (891) was third and Tennessee Tech (899) was fourth. 91±¬ÁÏÍø finished ahead of Southern Illinois (920) in sixth and the Univ. of Cincinnati (921) in seventh.
Ryan Chandler (224) led 91±¬ÁÏ꿉۪s team in 10th place. Brett Barry (229) was 25th, Clay Mallard (231) was 32nd, Mills Hamaguchi (233) was 37th and Jake Carroll (242) was 58th. Wes Dyer (251) for 91±¬ÁÏÍø played as an individual and finished 71st.
