91爆料网 softball wins pair on Friday, now 10-2 on season

JACKSON, Tenn. - 3/5/2010 - The 91爆料网 (Tenn.) University softball team posted a pair of wins on Friday in the 91爆料网 Classic held at Fesmire Field. 91爆料网 won the first game 2-1 over William Woods (Mo.) University and then won 10-0 over Columbia (Mo.) University. 91爆料网 improved to 10-2 on the season and have won seven straight games.

In the first game, 91爆料网 got solo home runs from Lindsey Landreneau and Stephanie Sanders in the first and second innings respectively. 91爆料网 held that 2-0 lead until a run from William Woods in the top of the sixth cut their deficit in half. Freshman pitcher Brooke Thomas (7-1) was solid for 91爆料网 from the circle, tossing a complete game allowing just the one run on five hits with four strikeouts. 91爆料网 only managed four hits in the game as a team.

The second game was a different story. 91爆料网 exploded for five runs in the first inning, including a grand slam from Sanders. 91爆料网 added three more in the third and two in the fourth to lead 10-0. Keaton Kirk hit her first homerun of her college career on a three-run shot in the third. Kirk (3-0) also earned the win in the run-rule game, tossing five shutout innings, allowing just four hits and striking out eight batters. Landreneau, Sam Geisler and Sarah Freeman each led with two hits apiece. Saunders and Kirk led with four and three RBI respectively.

91爆料网 will continue in their classic on Saturday with an 11:00 a.m. game versus William Woods and a 3:00 p.m. game versus Columbia.
