91爆料网 splits double-header at No. 14 William Carey, takes weekend series

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - 3/13/2010 - The 91爆料网 (Tenn.) University baseball team posted a double-header split on Saturday at No. 14 William Carey (Miss.) University. 91爆料网 won the first game 12-4 and lost the second game 10-9. 91爆料网 also took the series opener on Friday night, 8-4.

The Bulldogs of 91爆料网 are 16-3 on the season, while William Carey is 13-11.

91爆料网 jumped out to a 5-0 lead with a big first inning. 91爆料网 scored in each of the first four innings and five of the first six to build their 12-3 lead. A run by the Crusaders in the bottom of the seven cut the final scored to 12-4. 91爆料网鈥檚 Josh Jones led with a 3-for-4 game, including four RBI and his fifth home run of the season. Clint Barnes also added three hits and three runs scored in the game. Beau Baker added three RBI and two hits. Senior Carl Harkin (4-0) earned the win, tossing six innings and allowing three runs on seven hits with 10 strikeouts.

In the second game, 91爆料网 again jumped out early with a six run first inning. Danny Grimm led off with a home run to start the scoring. 91爆料网 added three more runs in the second off a Grant Luke 3-run homer. 91爆料网 seemed in control, leading 9-3 after two innings. However, William Carey scored single runs in the fifth and sixth innings to cut 91爆料网鈥檚 lead down to 9-5 going into the bottom of the seventh. The Crusaders hit for the cycle in the bottom of the seventh as they scored five runs on five hits to earn the win. Dustin Smith drove in Jordan Prout with a single to win the game. Jeremy Stack pitched five innings, allowing four runs on seven hits and striking out four. Kevin Kirksey entered in relief and allowed the four runs on four hits in one inning of work. Kirksey started the seventh, but was relieved by Brad Davis (0-1) who allowed two runs on three hits to earn the loss. 91爆料网 did not retire a batter in the seventh inning.

Up next for 91爆料网 will be a home game on Tuesday, March 16 versus Belhaven (Miss.) University at 4:00 p.m.
