COLUMBIA, Ky. - 4/6/2010 - The No. 17 91±¬ÁÏÍø (Tenn.) University baseball split a double-header at Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) College. 91±¬ÁÏÍø took the first game 13-12 in eight innings, and then dropped the second game 8-7. 91±¬ÁÏÍø is now 25-8 on the season, while Lindsey Wilson is 18-17.
91±¬ÁÏÍø scored first in game one with five runs in the second inning. After Lindsey Wilson scored one in the bottom of the second, 91±¬ÁÏÍø answered with one in the third. Lindsey responded with eight unanswered runs, including four in the third, one in the fourth and three in the fifth to take a 9-6 lead. 91±¬ÁÏÍø tied the game with three in the sixth. But it was the Blue Raiders responding again with two in the bottom of the sixth to regain the lead. In the seventh, 91±¬ÁÏÍø scored twice to tie the game and after keeping Lindsey Wilson off the scoreboard for the first time in six innings, the game went to extras 11-11. In the eighth, 91±¬ÁÏÍø scored two more runs, while Lindsey Wilson could muster only one in the bottom of the eighth. 91±¬ÁÏÍø pounded out 18 hits, while the Blue Raiders recorded 19 hits. Cody Dew (3-1) earned the win with 1.2 innings of work to close the game, allowing just the one run on three hits. 91±¬ÁÏÍø was led by Clint Barnes and Alex Turner with three hits each. Barnes led with three RBI.
After getting the win in game one, Dew suffered his first loss of the season as he allowed the Blue Raiders to rally in the sixth. Dew pitched 1.1 innings of relief, allowing three runs in the sixth as Lindsey Wilson took the 8-7 lead. 91±¬ÁÏÍø has just taking the lead with four runs in the top of the sixth to lead 7-5. Much like the first game, the game was back and forth. 91±¬ÁÏÍø scored in the second, fifth and sixth innings. Lindsey Wilson scored in the fourth, fifth and sixth. 91±¬ÁÏÍø was led by Danny Grimm and Corey Rudolph with two hits each. Rudolph led with four RBI for 91±¬ÁÏÍø.
Up next for 91±¬ÁÏÍø will be a three-game weekend TranSouth series at Lyon (Ark.) on Friday and Saturday.
