BATESVILLE, Ark. - 4/9/2010 - The No. 17 91±¬ÁÏÍø (Tenn.) University baseball team rallied to earned a 12-7 win at Lyon (Ark.) College on Friday. 91±¬ÁÏÍø trailed 7-0 after two innings, but scored 12 un-answered runs to get the conference win. 91±¬ÁÏÍø improved to 26-8 on the season and 4-3 in the TranSouth. Lyon dropped to 21-12 overall and 3-4 in league play.
Lyon scored four runs in the first inning and three more in the second inning. All seven runs came off 91±¬ÁÏÍø senior Carl Harken, who improved to 6-1 on the season after pitching a shutout for the final seven innings. In his third complete game of the season, Harken allowed five earned runs on 12 hits with five strikeouts and one walk. He tossed 108 pitches in the game, 72 for strikes.
91±¬ÁÏÍø began their rally with a run in the third inning. The score remained 7-1 until the fifth when 91±¬ÁÏÍø tied the game with six runs. Another run in the sixth, two in the seventh and two more in the ninth inning helped 91±¬ÁÏÍø pull away for the victory. 91±¬ÁÏ꿉۪s lone home run came on a two-run shot by Clint Barnes in the fifth inning. It was the only hit of the day for Barnes. Danny Grimm, Beau Baker and Josh Jones led 91±¬ÁÏÍø with three hits each, while Baker led the Bulldogs with three RBI. Eight of nine offensive starters for 91±¬ÁÏÍø recorded at least one hit.
The same two teams will complete the weekend series with a double-header on Saturday at 12:00 p.m.
