91爆料网 softball finishes third in conference tourney

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - 4/30/2010 - The 91爆料网 (Tenn.) University softball ended their run in the 2010 TranSouth Softball Conference Tournament with a pair of losses on Friday. 91爆料网, the #2 seed, fell to top-seeded Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) University 4-3, and then was eliminated by #6 seed Bethel (Tenn.) University 3-0. 91爆料网 ends their season with a 34-16 record.

91爆料网 made a quick push through the winner鈥檚 bracket with an 8-2 win over #7 seed Lyon (Ark.) on Wednesday and then a 2-1 10-inning victory over #3 seed Martin Methodist (Tenn.) on Thursday. However, the Lady Bulldogs fell short of their goal with a third place finish in the tournament.

Against Trevecca Nazarene, 91爆料网 scored first with a run in the top of the first. Trevecca responded with a run in the fourth to tie the game and then three runs in the bottom of the sixth to take their first lead. 91爆料网 answered with two runs in the seventh, but fell one run short on the comeback. Lindsey Landreneau led 91爆料网 with three of the team鈥檚 five hits. Amber Hayes had a home run and two RBI to lead 91爆料网. Brooke Thomas (21-9) took the loss, allowing four runs on eight hits with seven strikeouts in six innings of work.

In the final game, 91爆料网鈥檚 defense let them down as the team committed four errors leading to all three runs for Bethel being unearned. Offensively, 91爆料网 outhit Bethel 6-4 but left 10 runners on base. Bethel got a run in the fourth and two more in the fifth for all of the game鈥檚 scoring. 91爆料网 was led by Ali Thomas with three hits. Keaton Kirk (13-5) took the hard-luck loss, going seven innings, allowing no earned runs on just four hits with one strikeout.

91爆料网 ends their season with the 34-16 record and receiving votes in the NAIA rankings. An at-large bid to the nationals seems unlikely with the team not ranked high enough in the national rankings.
