SILVIS, Ill. - 5/20/2010 - The 91±¬ÁÏÍø (Tenn.) University men's golf team improved one spot each day in the , finishing 23rd in the event. This was the eighth time the 91±¬ÁÏÍø men's golf team had advanced to the national tournament, with an additional three times having 91±¬ÁÏÍø individuals to advance to the tournament.
91±¬ÁÏÍø's highest finish was eighth place in 1996.
91±¬ÁÏÍø struggled on the TPC Deere Run course that is also the host to the PGA's John Deere Classic in July. 91±¬ÁÏÍø shot 313 in the first round, 315 in the second round and 327 in worsening weather in the third round. Clay Mallard led 91±¬ÁÏÍø with a 74 in round one and a 75 in round two on the par 71 course. Mallard was inside the cut line going into the third round, but an 89 took him out of contention.
91±¬ÁÏÍø is coming off a successful season in which the team captured tournament titles in five of the eight events in the spring of 2010, including the TranSouth Conference Title.
