91±¬ÁÏÍø's Sadler named TranSouth AD of the year

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - 5/27/2010 - Tommy Sadler, the Director of Athletics Operations at 91±¬ÁÏÍø (Tenn.) University, has been named the 2010 Athletic Director of the Year by the TranSouth Athletic Conference.

Sadler has been the athletic director at 91±¬ÁÏÍø, located in Jackson, Tenn., since 2008, after serving as the Associate Athletic Director since 1996.

91±¬ÁÏÍø president Dr. David S. Dockery says, "Tommy has served faithfully for many years in his various roles in the athletic program at 91±¬ÁÏÍø. This recognition of his leadership at this time in the life of 91±¬ÁÏÍø athletics is a testimony to Tommy's exemplary commitment not only to the coaches and athletes in the athletic department, but to his dedication to the overall work of the university. I am sure that the entire 91±¬ÁÏÍø family will want to join me in offering our heartiest congratulations to Tommy Sadler on this well-deserved recognition."

Hutton, the TranSouth Commissioner says, “The TranSouth Athletic Conference is proud to have Mr. Tommy Sadler represent our conference as the 2010 Athletic Director of the Year and our nominee for consideration as the NAIA Athletic Director of the Year. The conference is indebted to him for his many years of work and leadership.

Sadler, a native of Jackson, is a 1972 graduate of South Side High School and a 1976 graduate of 91±¬ÁÏÍø. During his time at 91±¬ÁÏÍø, Sadler played four years of baseball for the Bulldogs. In 1981, he received his Master of Education from the University of Memphis.

His tenure at 91±¬ÁÏÍø began in 1985 as director of public relations. After a year in that role, he became the university’s director of corporate and foundation support, a position he held for 10 years. In 1996, Sadler then moved into his previous role as associate director of athletics.

Sadler earned the 91±¬ÁÏÍø Staff Member of the Year in 1994.

Sadler has also been very active in athletics at the conference level. He is completing his eighth year as the president of the TranSouth Conference, of which 91±¬ÁÏÍø is a member. Prior to this time as president, he served the conference as its vice president.

Sadler and his wife Michelle, a teacher in the Jackson-Madison County School District, make their home in Jackson.
