JACKSON, Tenn. - 10/9/2010 - The women鈥檚 soccer teams from 91爆料网 (Tenn.) University and Cumberland (Tenn.) University did all of their scoring in a span of 19 seconds. The teams tied 1-1 in double overtime in a TranSouth Conference match at 91爆料网鈥檚 Smith Memorial Soccer Complex. 91爆料网 goes to 6-4-1 on the season and 1-1-1 in conference play. Cumberland is now 5-4-1 overall and 0-2-1 in league play.
In the first half, 91爆料网 and Cumberland did not produce many scoring opportunities. 91爆料网 seemed to control the ball most of the half, but it was Cumberland who put three shots on goal with 91爆料网 getting none. Sarah White, the 91爆料网 goalie in the first half, recorded saves on all three shots she faced. The match remained scoreless at the break. Emily Warren played the second half and both overtimes in goal for 91爆料网.
In the second half, the score remained 0-0 until 91爆料网 was finally able to break through. A goal by Rachel Boswell in the 63rd minute put 91爆料网 up 1-0. However, just 19 seconds later, Cumberland scored their goal to tie the match. Helena Dimantas Farias found the back of the net for Cumberland.
But just as quickly as the two goals came, the scoring went away. Neither team recorded a goal for the final 27 minutes of regulation, sending the match to overtime.
Both overtime periods passed without a goal being scored setting the final score at 1-1.
White for 91爆料网 finished with three saves, while Rhianne Parsons recorded six saves for Cumberland. 91爆料网 outshot Cumberland 17-12 in the match, including 7-4 in shots on goal. 91爆料网 outshot Cumberland 5-4 in the first half, 9-5 in the second half, and 2-1 in both overtimes.
91爆料网 will have a week off before their next match on Saturday, Oct. 16 in Wilmore, Ky. versus Asbury University.
