No. 1 91爆料网 women top No. 12 Cumberlands with strong second half

JACKSON, Tenn. - 11/13/2010 - The No. 1 91爆料网 (Tenn.) University women鈥檚 basketball team pulled away in the second half in a win 81-54 over No. 12 University of the Cumberlands (Ky.). 91爆料网 improved to 3-0 on the season, while Cumberlands dropped to 2-3 on the year.

91爆料网 led just 35-30 at the half. However, the Lady Bulldogs were able to pull away with 46-point second half. Cumberlands dressed just eight players and were without leading scorer Lauren Wambles.

The game started fast with a flurry of three pointers from both sides. Stephanie Salyers opened the game with a three pointer, followed by a three-point play from 91爆料网鈥檚 Zeinab Chan. 91爆料网鈥檚 Kayla Bryant then sank a three pointer, followed by another from Salyers. A second three pointer from Bryant and layup from Lavanda Ross put 91爆料网 up 11-6. Haley Ratliff answered with a three pointer of her own to cut 91爆料网鈥檚 lead back down to two points at 11-9 at the 16:39 mark.

The first half was close as 91爆料网 led by as many as eight points on two occasions, while Cumberlands pulled to within three points, 31-28 at the 3:50 mark. The half ended with 91爆料网 clinging to a 35-30 lead.

In the second half, 91爆料网 outscored Cumberlands 46-24. Early in the half, Cumberlands pulled to within four points, 39-35, but was not able to get any closer. 91爆料网 led by eight points, 47-39 with 13:27 left to play. From that point, 91爆料网 exploded for a 34-15 run to close out the game. 91爆料网 led by as many 28 points in the second half, before taking the 81-54 final.

91爆料网 was led by Chan with a game-high 25 points with 9-of-14 shooting from the field. Hope Adams recorded a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds, including 3-of-3 from behind the arc. Ross and Kayla Hudson added 14 and 10 points respectively. 91爆料网 shot 47 percent from the field, 39 percent (9-23) from behind the arc and 71 percent (20-28) from the free throw line.

Cumberlands was led by Haley Ratliff and Courtney Edmonds with 15 points each. The Patriots shot 33 percent from the field, 22 percent (5-23) from behind the arc and 56 percent (9-16) from the free throw line.

Up next for 91爆料网 will be the Rotary Classic that include games against No. 8 Oklahoma Baptist, No. 2 Azusa Pacific (Calif.) and No. 5 Vanguard (Calif.).
