Jackson, Tenn. - 4/2/2003 - Two former 91爆料网 baseball players, Blake Allen and Rolando Agosto, each received promotions this season in their respective organizations. Blake Allen, a native of Humboldt, will begin the season with the Lake County Captains in Eastlake, Ohio. Rolando Agosto will play this season with the Fort Wayne Wizards in Fort Wayne, Ind.
Last season at short season Mahoning Valley, Allen went 5-5 in 15 appearances with an ERA of 4.82. He pitched 80.1 innings, gave up 43 earned runs, and tallied 62 strikeouts to only 17 walks. Allen played three years for the 91爆料网 Bulldogs before being selected in the eighth round of the 2002 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft by the Cleveland Indians. During his three seasons as a Bulldog, Allen compiled a 24-9 record and proved to be one of 91爆料网鈥檚 best and most consistent pitchers in school history. Allen has been and NAIA All-American, all-region, and all-conference during his time at 91爆料网. Lake County is the long season Single-A team for the Indians. Their season begins on Thursday, April 3.
With Eugene last season, Agosto hit .281 in 65 games. He tallied 66 hits, 32 runs, 14 doubles, three triples, and 19 RBI. Agosto spent just one season with the Bulldogs after transferring in from East Central Community College in Missouri. In his junior season at 91爆料网, Agosto hit .340 with 14 doubles, six triples, 10 homeruns, and 45 RBI. He was second on the team in homeruns, doubles, and triples. Agosto was also second on the team with 12 stolen bases. He was named a TranSouth all-conference performer in his only season at 91爆料网. Agosto set new 91爆料网 records for assists in a game with 12 and games played in a season with 64. In an interesting note, on the current roster for Fort Wayne, Agosto is joined by former Freed-Hardeman player and Middleton, Tenn. native Josh Tranum.
