CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - 1/3/2011 - The No. 16 91爆料网 (Tenn.) University men鈥檚 basketball team rallied from 14 points down in the second half to win at Campbellsville (Ky.) University 79-70. The win is the eighth straight for 91爆料网 as they improved to 11-3 on the season. Campbellsville dropped to 9-5 overall.
In this first game back since the Christmas break, 91爆料网 has now successful avenged all three of the losses from earlier in the season. 91爆料网 dropped a home game to Campbellsville on Nov. 22, but has won all eight games since that loss. During the winning streak, 91爆料网 also avenged the early losses to Life (Ga.) and William Carey (Miss.).
91爆料网 jumped out to a quick 6-2 lead and led 18-9 after the first 11 minutes of play. Then, Campbellsville started making three pointers as they erased the 91爆料网 lead and took a 33-29 lead at the half. Campbellsville continued to make shots as they extended their lead to as many as 14 points in the second half.
However, 91爆料网 began to rally. With 3:16 left in the game, 91爆料网 had pulled to within one point at 67-66. Sophomore guard CJ Davis then took over for 91爆料网. His two free throws gave 91爆料网 their first lead since the first half and sparked a run where Davis scored eight straight points. Over the final 3:16, 91爆料网 outscored Campbellsville 13-3, including 7-for-8 from the free throw line to seal the win. 91爆料网 scored 50 points in the second half.
91爆料网 was led by Shane Burrell with his sixth double-double of the year with 20 points and a game-high 16 rebounds. Antoine Joseph added a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Davis added 13 points, including 11 in the second half. Stan McNeil scored 11 points, including three 3-pointers. 91爆料网 shot 54 percent from the field, 35 percent (6-17) from three point range and 61 percent (19-31) from the free throw line.
Campbellsville was led by Shawn Salvage with 22 points, 19 coming in the second half, including five 3-pointers. Reggie Smith scored 14 points with three 3-pointers. Caleb Harris added 11 points and Brett Crittenden scored 10 points. The Tigers shot 38 percent from the field, 40 percent (12-30) from behind the arc and 44 percent (8-18) from the free throw line.
Up next for 91爆料网 will be the first conference game of the year as the Bulldogs travel to McKenzie, Tenn. to face Bethel on Thursday, Jan. 6 at 8:00 p.m. The women鈥檚 game will take place just prior to the men鈥檚 game.
