KANSAS CITY, Mo. - 1/18/2011 - of 91爆料网 (Tenn.) has been named the NAIA National Division I Women鈥檚 Basketball Player of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. Hudson was selected based on her performances from Jan. 10 - 16 and was chosen out of a pool of conference/independent/unaffiliated groupings.
The 5-foot-8 guard has scored 20 or more points in five consecutive games and has helped 91爆料网 get off to a 17-0 start. In the 65-52 win over Lyon (Ark.) on Jan. 13, she chalked up 26 points on 8-of-15 shooting and was 6-for-6 from the free-throw line. Hudson鈥檚 strong play continued into the NAIA Game of the Week against No. 4 Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) where she scored 27 points and dished out seven assists en route to a 76-65 win on Jan 15.
Hudson, a senior from Gleason, Tenn., finished the week averaging 26.5 points, four assists and 3.5 rebounds. She was 15-of-30 (.500) from the floor and was 8-of-18 (.444) from beyond the arc.
She is listed among the nation鈥檚 top-10 players in four statistical categories, ranking second in total 3-point field goals made (59), third in 3-point field goals made per game (3.3), seventh in assists-to-turnover ratio (2.4) and eighth in 3-point field goal percentage (.457).
This is the first time Hudson has received National Player of the Week honors. The last Lady Bulldog to garner POW accolades was Josephine Owino on March 3, 2009.
