No. 16 91爆料网 wins fourth straight with a 72-59 victory over Cumberland

JACKSON, Tenn. - 1/20/2011 - The No. 16 91爆料网 (Tenn.) University men鈥檚 basketball team posted a 72-59 win over Cumberland (Tenn.) University. 91爆料网鈥檚 fourth straight win improved their record to 16-4 overall and 5-1 in the TranSouth. Cumberland dropped out of a tie for second with 91爆料网, going to 4-2 in league play and 8-8 overall.

91爆料网 has now won 13 of their past 14 games. With the Martin Methodist loss earlier in the evening, 91爆料网 moves into a tie for first place in the conference standings. 91爆料网 lone conference loss game to the No. 6 ranked Martin Methodist RedHawks.

All nine players for 91爆料网 scored in the first half as the Bulldogs used a team effort to hold a 33-31 lead at the break. 91爆料网 jumped out to a quick 10-0 lead before Cumberland finally got on the board with a basket at the 15:39 mark. Cumberland slowly came all the way back and tied the game at 27-27 with 3:03 left in the half. The game was tied again at 29-29 and 31-31, but 91爆料网 never trailed. 91爆料网 Bulldogs two free throws from CJ Davis to take the slim 33-31 advantage.

In the second half, the game was tied for the fourth time at 33-33, before 91爆料网 was able to build a lead. 91爆料网 held at least a three-point lead for the first 11 minutes of the second half. Then, with nine minutes remaining, 91爆料网 extended a 45-42 lead out to a 59-46 lead, thanks to a 14-4 run. 91爆料网 led again by 13 points, 61-48 with 2:54 left and made that lead stand for the 72-59 final.

91爆料网 was led by Davis with a game-high 20 points. No other Bulldog scored in double figures, however all 91爆料网鈥檚 nine players scored in the game. Antoine Joseph, Antoine Hall and Shane Burrell each added nine points. Burrell added a game-high 11 rebounds. 91爆料网 shot 42 percent from the field and 35 percent (7-20) from the three point line. This was the first time in five games that 91爆料网 failed to make at least 10 three pointers. 91爆料网 sank 85 percent (33-39) from the free throw line, including 16-19 in the second half to seal the win.

Cumberland was led by Graciano Negron with 18 points and Kyle Upton with 13 points. Cumberland shot 36 percent from the field, 24 percent (5-21) from long range and 77 percent (10-13) from the foul line.

Up next for 91爆料网 will be a home conference game on Saturday, Jan. 22 at 4:00 p.m. versus Blue Mountain (Miss.).
