No. 16 91±¬ÁÏÍø men drain 16 three-pointers in win

JACKSON, Tenn. - 1/22/2011 - The No. 16 91±¬ÁÏÍø (Tenn.) University men’s basketball team cruised in an 87-66 win over Blue Mountain (Miss.) College. 91±¬ÁÏÍø improved to 17-4 on the season and 6-1 in the TranSouth. Blue Mountain dropped to 6-13 overall and 0-6 in league play.

91±¬ÁÏÍø has won 14-of-15 games, including five straight. The Bulldogs currently sit in a three-way tie for first place in the TranSouth.

The Bulldogs scored the first five points of the game and 10 of the first 12 to jump out to a lead they never gave up. The Bulldogs stretched their lead to as many as 30 points in the first half. 91±¬ÁÏÍø sank 9-of-22 three pointers in the first 20 minutes, including 4-of-8 from Stan McNeil.

In the second half, 91±¬ÁÏÍø maintained their lead, extending the cushion to as many as 33 points. 91±¬ÁÏÍø cruised down the stretch for the 87-66 final.

91±¬ÁÏÍø was led with five players in double figures. Antoine Hall finished with 17 points, including 5-of-8 three pointers. Shane Burrell added his seventh double-double on the season with 16 points and 11 rebounds. McNeil finished with 14 points, all of which came in the first half. Skyler Vaden added three 3-pointers as a part of his 14 points. Vaden also led with eight assists. 91±¬ÁÏÍø shot 46 percent from the field, 38 percent (16-42) from behind the arc and 58 percent (7-12) from the free throw line.

Blue Mountain was led by Josh McCalmon with a game-high 26 points. Renell Collins added 19 points for the Toppers. Blue Mountain shot 39 percent from the field, 39 percent (9-23) from three point range and 60 percent (3-5) from the free throw line.

Up next for 91±¬ÁÏÍø will be a road game at Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) on Thursday, Jan. 27.
