JACKSON, Tenn. - 2/17/2011 - The No. 1 91爆料网 (Tenn.) University women鈥檚 basketball team topped Mid-Continent (Ky.) University 118-60 on Thursday night. 91爆料网 improved to 25-1 on the season and 12-1 in the TranSouth. Mid-Continent dropped to 1-25 on the season and 1-12 in league play.
For 91爆料网, it was the first time this season that the top-ranked Lady Bulldogs have hit triple digits in points.
In the win, 91爆料网 tied a record with 19 made three pointers. 91爆料网 also sank 19 three pointers versus Blue Mountain (Miss.) on February 28, 2006. Senior guard Kayla Bryant drained nine 3-pointers on her way to a career high 29 points at 91爆料网. Her nine 3-pointers is second best in the 91爆料网 record books, just one back of the record 10 3-pointers made in a game by two former players.
91爆料网 opened the game with a 17-0 run over the first five minutes of play. 91爆料网 then led 27-2 at the 13 minute mark of the first half. The Lady Bulldogs extended their first half lead to as many as 41 points three different times, before taking the 67-31 lead into the break.
91爆料网 shot 54 percent from the field in the first half, including 55 percent (12-22) from long range.
In the second half, score the first 11 points. 91爆料网 led by as many as 64 points in the second half as they cruised to the 118-60 final.
91爆料网 was led by Bryant鈥檚 29 points, including 9-of-17 from behind the arc. Kayla Hudson scored 21 points, including five three pointers. Lavanda Ross scored 18 points including four three pointers. Sarah Chan added 17 points and Beatrice Duol posted a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. 91爆料网 shot 49 percent from the field, 45 percent (19-42) from three point range and 75 percent ( 15-20) from the free throw line.
Mid-Continent was led by Tiffany Payton with 18 points, including 5-of-6 three pointers. Nicki Dewit added 15 points including four 3-pointers. The Cougars shot 41 percent from the field, 57 percent (13-23) from behind the arc and 71 percent ( 5-7) from the free throw line.
