JACKSON, Tenn. - 2/19/2011 - The No. 14 91爆料网 (Tenn.) University men鈥檚 basketball posted a 73-54 win at Blue Mountain (Miss.) College on Saturday. 91爆料网 improved to 23-5 on the season and 12-2 in the TranSouth. Blue Mountain dropped to 8-18 overall and 2-11 in league play.
91爆料网鈥檚 Stan McNeil opened the game with a three-pointer to spark a 15-4 run for the Bulldogs to open the game. Blue Mountain rallied and with 6:10 left in the half, had cut the 91爆料网 lead to just five points, 20-15. Over the next five minutes, 91爆料网 outscored Blue Mountain 10-2 to lead 30-17. 91爆料网 held a 32-20 lead at the half.
In the second half, 91爆料网 quickly pulled away as they opened the half with a seven straight points to go up 39-20. Over the first nine minutes of play in the second half, 91爆料网 outscored Blue Mountain 17-3 take their largest lead of the game at 49-22. Blue Mountain鈥檚 three points during that stretch all came from the free throw line. Their first field goal of the second half came at the 10:50 mark on a basket from Lakendrick McCullum. 91爆料网 cruised down the stretch for the 73-54 final.
91爆料网 was led by Shane Burrell with 22 points. Antoine Joseph added 15 points and McNeil used four 3-pointers to put in 12 points in the game. 91爆料网 shot 44 percent from the field, 42 percent ( 8-19) from long range and 75 percent (21-28) from the free throw line.
Blue Mountain was led by Jarvis Fisher with 16 points on four 3-pointers. McCullum added 10 points. The Toppers shot 35 percent from the field, 23 percent ( 5-22) from behind the arc and 50 percent (5-10) from the free throw line.
Up next for 91爆料网 will be a home game on Monday, February 21 at 8:00 p.m. versus Lyon (Ark.). The is the make-up game from the game postponed by the winter storm.
