JACKSON, Tenn. - 2/21/2011 - The No. 1 91爆料网 (Tenn.) University women鈥檚 basketball team posted a 65-44 win over Lyon (Ark.) College. The win for 91爆料网 clinched a No. 1 seed in next week鈥檚 TranSouth Conference Tournament. 91爆料网, 27-1 overall and 14-1 in league play, can finish no worse than a share of the regular season title with just one game left to play.
Lyon started the game with four quick points as they pushed out to an 11-2 lead to start the game. 91爆料网 slowly rallied but did not take their first lead of the game until a basket from Sarah Chan put her team up 16-15 at the six-minute mark. 91爆料网 continued to extend their lead up to 10 points, 32-22 at the half.
91爆料网鈥檚 Chan had 14 points and 11 rebounds at the half. 91爆料网 managed just 32 percent shooting in the first half, but made 4-of-9 from long range.
The second half started with slow play dominating the game. Lyon got as close at eight points twice, but 91爆料网 also could not pull away. 91爆料网 led 46-37 with 8:42 left in the game. Lavanda Ross then sank a basket to start the final push for 91爆料网 as they quickly extending their lead. 91爆料网 closed the game with a 19-7 run to win by 21 points, 65-44.
91爆料网 was led by Chan with 20 points and 18 rebounds for her 12th double-double of the season. Kayla Hudson added 17 points, including 5-of-9 from long range. Ross scored 12 points, while Kayla Bryant added three from beyond the arc for nine points. Bryant was named the conference player of the week for her efforts in 91爆料网 three games last week.
91爆料网 shot 37 percent from the field, 40 percent (8-20) from behind the arc and 62 percent (13-21) from the free throw line.
Lyon was led by Lauren Ramsey with 17 points. K.K. Hodges added 15 points and 11 rebounds. The Scots shot 34 percent from the field, 25 percent (4-16) from long range and 67 percent (6-9) from the free throw line.
