No. 16 91±¬ÁÏÍø baseball rallies for TranSouth win over Lyon

JACKSON, Tenn. - 3/18/2011 - The No. 16 91±¬ÁÏÍø (Tenn.) University baseball team rallied for a 7-4 win over Lyon (Ark.) College on Friday. 91±¬ÁÏÍø improved to 19-4 on the season and 4-0 in league play. Lyon dropped to 11-13 overall and 0-4 in league play.

Lyon jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the top of the first when three of the first four batters reached base. Jim Gossett’s two-RBI single did the damage for Lyon.

The score remained 1-0 until 91±¬ÁÏÍø posted a tally in the third and then took the lead with three runs in the fourth. A two-RBI double by Danny Grimm capped off the fourth and gave 91±¬ÁÏÍø their first lead. Lyon added a run in the fifth and another in the eighth, while 91±¬ÁÏÍø scored single runs in each the sixth, seventh and eighth innings.

Cole McAdams homered for 91±¬ÁÏÍø to lead off the seventh inning. He finished the game leading 91±¬ÁÏÍø with three hits in five at-bats, with two RBI and one run scored. Brett Pawlen, Kian Jost and Doug Joyce each added two hits. Grimm added two RBI.

Jeremey Stack earned the win with eight innings of work, allowing nine hits and striking out nine batters. Matt Fike earned the save with a perfect ninth inning and one strike out.

91±¬ÁÏÍø and Lyon will complete the three-game series on Saturday with a double-header starting at noon.
