Chan鈥檚 32 points propels defending champs back to title game

JACKSON, Tenn. - 3/21/2011 - The No. 1 91爆料网 (Tenn.) University women鈥檚 basketball team posted a 58-40 win over No. 24 Shawnee State (Ohio) University in the semifinals of the NAIA DI Women鈥檚 Basketball National Championships. Top-seeded 91爆料网 improved to 35-1 on the season, while the sixth-seeded Shawnee State ended their tournament run at 27-10.

Chan, who played just 10 minutes in the first half, dominated the game with new career high of 32 points. Chan scored 20 of her 32 points in the second half.

91爆料网 scored the first six points of the game, all coming from Chan. 91爆料网 stretched their first half lead to as many as 13 points, 27-14, following a three pointer from Kayla Hudson. Hudson, who scored 30 and 27 points in the past two games respectively, managed just nine points and one three pointer in the contest.

With Chan and Bryant sitting on the bench with three first half fouls each, 91爆料网 failed to pull away as Shawnee State rallied back. The Bears pulled to within seven points late in the half before 91爆料网 claimed the 29-20 halftime lead.

In the second half, 91爆料网 quick pushed the lead back to 13 points on two straight baskets from Chan. 91爆料网 maintained a double-digit for the remainder of the game as they extended their lead to 18 points with the 58-40 final.

91爆料网鈥檚 only player in double figures was Chan with 32 points. She added 13 rebounds for her 16th double-double of the year. Hudson and Ross each added nine points. 91爆料网 shot 42 percent from the field, 15 percent (2-13) from long range and 60 percent (12-20) from the free throw line.

Shawnee State was led by Jill Cropper with 12 points and Abby Ballman with eight points. The Bears shot 25 percent from the field, 22 percent (2-9) from behind the arc and 48 percent (12-25) from the free throw line.

Up next for 91爆料网 will be their third straight NAIA title game on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. at Oman Arena in Jackson. 91爆料网 has won each of the past two national titles and four of the past six titles.
