91±¬ÁÏÍø plays for third straight NAIA title

JACKSON, Tenn. - 3/22/2011 - The No. 1 91±¬ÁÏÍø (Tenn.) University women's basketball team will play for the third straight NAIA National Title tonight at 7:00 p.m. at Oman Arena in Jackson.

Tickets are available at the Oman Arena box office. If you cannot make the game in Jackson, the Voice of the Bulldogs Gerry Neese will be giving you the play-by-play on 93.1 FM in Jackson and west Tennessee or live on the internet at www.uu.edu/athletics/info/live. The game will also be live on national television on CBS College Sports, which is channel 113 on the local JEA Cable. The channel should also be available with digital packages on Charter Cable, Comcast Cable, Dish Network and Direct TV.

Notes for tonight's game:
• Top-seeded 91±¬ÁÏÍø is coming off a 58-40 win over the Cinderella story of the tournament in sixth-seeded Shawnee State (Ohio) in the semifinals. 91±¬ÁÏÍø was led by Sarah Chan with a career high of 32 points in the win. Her 13 rebounds in the game gave Chan her 16th double-double on the season.

• Kayla Hudson has recorded a tournament total of 87 assists in her four years in the tournaments. She needs just four assists to tie the national tournament record of 91 assists. Hudson already holds the 91±¬ÁÏÍø all-time assists record with 782 in her career to go along with her 1,759 career points.

• 91±¬ÁÏ꿉۪s defense continues to be a strong part of the team’s success so far this season. 91±¬ÁÏÍø has held their opponents to 69 or fewer points 33 times in their 36 total games this season.

• Including the tournament games, 91±¬ÁÏÍø has played 21 games against teams either ranked or receiving votes in the NAIA rankings, going 20-1 in those games. Entering the tournament, 91±¬ÁÏÍø was 12-1 this season versus teams in the 32-team national tournament field.

• 91±¬ÁÏÍø is 35-1 on the season and has won 12 straight games. 91±¬ÁÏÍø opened the season with 23 straight wins.

• The 91±¬ÁÏÍø women are making their 22nd appearance in the national tournament and 20th consecutive appearance, both NAIA records.

• 91±¬ÁÏÍø is also the NAIA leader in national tournament wins with 63, including four wins in this years tournament.

91±¬ÁÏÍø has won 14 straight national tournament games. 91±¬ÁÏÍø is 63-16 in the national tournament for a .797 winning percentage. The Lady Bulldogs have been to three straight title games and five in the past seven years. 91±¬ÁÏÍø has been to seven national title games in their program history, going 5-2 in those games.

• 91±¬ÁÏÍø has played every possible national tournament game except two in the past seven years. 91±¬ÁÏÍø has posted a 30-2 national tournament record over that stretch. Both losses were by two points each and both on shots made in the last 10 seconds of a semifinal game to the eventual national champion.

• In the previous 21 tournament appearances, 91±¬ÁÏÍø has won five national titles (1998, 2005, 2006, 2009, 2010) and have finished runner-up twice (1993, 1997).

• 91±¬ÁÏÍø head coach Mark Campbell (12th season) has a career record of 399-47, (.895).
