JACKSON, Tenn. - 7/29/2011 - The 91±¬ÁÏÍø (Tenn.) University volleyball team has signed of Pearland, Texas for the 2011 seasons. Deem will enter 91±¬ÁÏÍø this fall as a junior and will continue her work in earning a degree in kinesiology.
Deem, a 5-foot-7 libero, transferred to 91±¬ÁÏÍø from San Jacinto (Texas) College where she played two years of volleyball for head coach Sharon Nelson. She helped lead her team to a runner-up finish in the NJCAA National Volleyball Tournament in 2010, while posting a tenth place finish in the national tournament in 2009. Deem was twice named all-conference, and earned NJCAA All-Region once. She led the team in digs per set as a sophomore with a 6.06 average, which also placed her seventh in the nation. Deem hit the court for 874 total digs for a 4.28 per set average.
Deem prepped at Pearland (Texas) High School, playing for Coach John Turner. She was named first team all-district, team captain, third team All-Greater Houston, and honorable mentioned Lone Star Player of the Year. Deem is the all-time school leader at Pearland with 1,265 career digs.
Deem was a gold medalist for the USAV 18 National Division Junior Olympic Team in 2009. Deem was also honored on the All-Academic Team.
Deem is the daughter of Robert and Veronica Deem.
