JACKSON, Tenn. - 8/27/2011 - The 91±¬ÁÏÍø (Tenn.) University volleyball team followed a 1-1 Friday with another split of matches on Saturday in the Milligan College Tournament in Johnson City, Tenn. 91±¬ÁÏÍø fell to the tournament champion, Shorter (Ga.) 3-0 (25-21, 25-14, 25-21) in the morning match. 91±¬ÁÏÍø then rebounded for a 3-1 (23-25, 25-19, 25-18, 25-12) win over the host school Milligan to even their season record at 2-2.
In the match versus Shorter, 91±¬ÁÏÍø was led by newcomer Savannah Hughes with eight kills while senior Anna Sims added seven kills. Emmie Moroski dished out 26 assists, while Lauren Sprouse led with five digs. Sims led the way with four blocks in the match.
The second match saw Hughes explode for 17 kills to lead 91±¬ÁÏÍø, while Abby Wainwright added 11 kills in the match. Moroski recorded 33 assists and 23 digs. Sprouse led with three aces and added 16 digs. Sims led again with three blocks.
Sims was named to the all-tournament team as she helped lead the Lady Bulldogs to a 2-2 start to the new season.
On Friday, 91±¬ÁÏÍø defeated Bryan (Tenn.) W 3-1 (25-21, 25-13, 20-25, 25-18) and the lost to Columbia (S.C.) 3-1 (25-21, 25-20, 15-25, 25-12).
Up next for 91±¬ÁÏÍø will be a road conference match on Thursday, September 8 at Martin Methodist (Tenn.).
