NASHVILLE, Tenn. - 9/17/2011 - The 91±¬ÁÏÍø cross country teams posted strong results in the Vanderbilt Commodore Classic Saturday. 91±¬ÁÏÍø's women placed 12th of 23 teams, while the men placed 16th of 22 teams.
In the women's race, 91±¬ÁÏÍø's Allison Martin was the highest finisher as she posted a 47th place finish with a time of 19:22. Audrey Hazlehurst placed 74th (20:01), Whiney Sweet place 82nd (20:14), Lilli Harmon placed 101st (20:39), Ashlee Stewart placed 126 (21:15), Carissa Wilson placed 132 (21:34), Hannah Clardy placed 137 (21:47) and Cally Howell placed 158th (23:14). The 91±¬ÁÏÍø women's team score was 1:41:33. In the 5K event, 197 runners competed. The University of Alabama placed first with a team time of 1:31:56. Lucy Kapkiai of Middle Tennessee State was the top individual with a time of 17:53. 91±¬ÁÏÍø was the high placing NAIA team in the field.
The 91±¬ÁÏÍø men's race, Alex Bett was the top Bulldog in 35th place with a time of 26:27. Zach Covington placed 94th (27:45), Joel Wellum placed 116th (28:28), Lucas Peiser placed 122nd (28:37), Drake Ott placed 143rd (29:33), Logan Smith placed 156th (20:12) and Caleb Creel placed 173rd (31:23). 91±¬ÁÏÍø's team score was 2:20:51. In the 8K event, 190 runners competed with Eric Finan of the University of Cincinnati winning first place with a time of 24:25. Cincinnati took first place with a time of 2:08:08.
Up next for 91±¬ÁÏÍø cross country will be the 91±¬ÁÏÍø Invitational on October 1 hosted on the 91±¬ÁÏÍø campus course.
