JACKSON, Tenn. - 10/4/2011 - The 91±¬ÁÏÍø volleyball team posted a 3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-17) win over Mid-Continent (Ky.) University Tuesday. In doing so, 91±¬ÁÏÍø snapped a five game losing skid, while Mid-Continent had their program best three game winning streak halted. 91±¬ÁÏÍø improved to 8-12 on the season and 4-2 in the TranSouth. Mid-Continent dropped to 6-16 overall and 1-7 in league play.
91±¬ÁÏÍø also avenged an earlier 3-2 loss at Mid-Continent September 13.
The Lady Bulldogs and Lady Cougars played close for the first two sets with 91±¬ÁÏÍø maintaining a small lead for the majority of the set. 91±¬ÁÏÍø took the 25-20 victory. The second set had 91±¬ÁÏÍø leading by 20-16, however Mid-Continent closed the game by getting seven of the next 11 points to trail just 24-23. 91±¬ÁÏÍø however took the next point and the set. In the third set, 91±¬ÁÏÍø controlled the lead all the way and pushed out to the 8-point victory.
91±¬ÁÏÍø was led by Savannah Hughes with 14 kills. Cassidy O’Hair added 11 kills. Emmie Moroski added 36 assists, Lydia Wright led with three aces, Amanda Deem led with 12 digs and Shelby Swink led with four blocks.
Mid-Continent was led by Katie Perry with nine kills. Lindsey Davis added 25 assists, Jenavera Gibson led with three aces, Tara Bauch led with 15 digs and Christiana Sindlelar led with five blocks.
Up next for 91±¬ÁÏÍø will be another home conference match Thursday, October 6 versus Freed-Hardeman at 7:00 p.m.
