Campbell gets win number 400 in 91爆料网鈥檚 79-62 victory

JACKSON, Tenn. - 11/1/2011 - The No. 2 91爆料网 women鈥檚 basketball team opened the 2011-12 season with a 79-62 win over Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.) University Tuesday. With the win, 91爆料网 gave head coach Mark Campbell his 400th career victory to just 48 losses.

Campbell, now coaching in his 13th season at 91爆料网, leads the NAIA鈥檚 list of all-time women鈥檚 basketball coaches with a .893 winning percentage. Campbell has four NAIA National Titles under his belt and averages 33 wins per season over his career.

91爆料网 opened the game with a three pointer from Paige Parker. Hannibal-LaGrange (1-2) answered with a long two-pointer from Ashley Wilson to cut the 91爆料网 lead to 3-2. That was as close as Hannibal would get in the contest. 91爆料网 led 7-5 before pushing the lead out to their biggest of the half at 17 points, 31-14. 91爆料网 led 33-16 at the half.

91爆料网 held the Lady Trojans to just 16 points and 28 percent shooting in the first half.

In the second half, 91爆料网 slowly pushed their lead out to as many as 22 points, 51-29 at the 13:41 mark. However, Hannibal-LaGrange outscored 91爆料网 20-7 over the next eight minutes to cut the deficit down to nine points. 91爆料网 answered and by the end of the game had pushed the lead back to 17 points, matching their halftime advantage.

91爆料网 was led by Lavanda Ross with a game-high 24 points, while adding 10 rebounds. Her eight assists fell just shy of a triple-double. Freshman Amy Philamlee poured in 15 points, including three 3-pointers on the night. Mrashi Karumba added 12 points and Mildred Olumasi scored 10 points. 91爆料网 shot 48 percent from the field, 35 percent ( 6-17) from three point range and 85 percent (17-20) from the free throw line.

Hannibal was led by Ashley Wilson with a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds. Ashleigh Spencer scored 15 points and Trenee Thornton added 13 points. Both Spencer and Thornton sank three 3-pointers in the game. The Lady Trojans shot 39 percent from the field, 50 percent (7-14) from behind the arc and 70 percent (7-10) from the charity stripe.

Up next for 91爆料网 will be Homecoming 2011, Saturday, November 5. The 91爆料网 women face St. Francis (Ill.) at 2 p.m. followed by the men versus Belhaven (Miss.) at 4 p.m.
