JACKSON, Tenn. - 11/15/2011 - The No. 22 ranked 91爆料网 men鈥檚 basketball lost 68-66 Tuesday night to Campbellsville (Ky.) University on a shot at the buzzer. Cedric Henderson鈥檚 heroics sent 91爆料网 (2-3) to a third straight loss, while Campbellsville improved to 3-1.
Of the three straight losses for 91爆料网, all have come by less than eight points, including an overtime loss and tonight鈥檚 buzzer beater.
Over the last three seasons including this year, 91爆料网 and Campbellsville have scheduled a home-and-home series. This marked the third time in that stretch that Campbellsville has won the match up at 91爆料网, while in the previous two seasons, 91爆料网 has won the games Campbellsville. 91爆料网 hopes to continue that occurrence in their trip to Campbellsville this season on January 2.
91爆料网 trailed by two points at the half, but senior guard Antoine Hall drained a basket out of halftime to tie the game at 38-38. 91爆料网 stretched their lead out to as many as eight points and led by six points, 60-54, with seven minutes left in the game.
Campbellsville began to mount their rally and at the 4:34 mark, caught the Bulldogs and led 61-60 thanks to a 7-0 run. 91爆料网 quickly jumped back on top 64-61 and then clung to a 64-63 lead with 2:02 left to play. A three pointer by Campbellsville鈥檚 Jordan Myers put his team up 66-64 with 1:15 left. 91爆料网 tied the game on a jumper by Skyler Vaden with 45 seconds left.
Campbellsville had the ball and as the Tigers drove the basket, 91爆料网 forced a turnover. However, as the Bulldogs moved the ball up the court to set up for a final shot, 91爆料网 committed a turnover. With 12 seconds left, and following two timeouts by Campbellsville and one by 91爆料网, the Tigers gave the ball to Henderson who sank the 18-foot jumper for the win at the buzzer.
In the first half, Campbellsville came out hot as they jumped out to a 15-6 lead, the largest lead of the game for either team. 91爆料网 rallied to take a one point lead at 27-26 and again at 34-33, before going into the locker room down 38-36.
91爆料网 was led Vaden with 13 points. Laventrice Gray added 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Hall scored 10 points. 91爆料网 shot 42 percent from the field, 27 percent (4-15) from behind the arc, and 74 percent (20-27) from the free throw line.
Campbellsville was led by Henderson with 15 points. Reggie Smith added 15 points and Jonas Bohm scored 12 points. The Tigers shot 40 percent from the field, 43 percent (9-21) from long range and 65 percent (11-17) form the free throw line.
