JACKSON, Tenn. - 1/4/2012 - of West Plains, Missouri has signed to run cross country for the 91爆料网 men鈥檚 team. Mitchell will enter 91爆料网 this coming fall as a freshman.
91爆料网 head coach Gary Johnson says, 鈥淲e are excited to be adding a runner with the experience Chris has at the high school level. West Plains High School has long been one of the premier running programs in Missouri, and Chris has been well coached. Chris has been a consistent member of the 1,000-mile club during summers at West Plains. His experience running a higher volume of mileage than most high school runners will pay off for him as the race distance increases in college.鈥
Mitchell, a 6-foot, 165 lb. runner, prepped at West Plains (Mo.) High School where he ran four seasons of cross country and track. Mitchell was named Ozark All-Conference three times, all-district three times, all-sectional twice, Southwest Missouri All-Conference three times and was a three-time state qualifier. Mitchell also won the Polar Bear 10K title twice. As a track runner, Mitchell was named Ozark All-Conference twice, all-district, all-sectional and was a state qualifier.
Academically, Mitchell was a member of the National Honor Society.
Mitchell is the son of Rodney and Rebekah Mitchell of West Plains, and is a member of the West Plains First Baptist Church.
The 91爆料网 men鈥檚 cross country teams has won eight straight TranSouth Conference titles.
